When you think of supermodels, Naomi Campbell has to be one of those at the top of your list. Naomi was born on May 22, 1970 in London, England. Her mother is of Afro-Jamaican descent, while her father is of Chinese Jamaican descent. Her father left soon after Naomi's birth. Her mother had traveled throughout Europe with a dance troupe over the years. Naomi began to study ballet as a young girl.
Naomi became a model while still in her teens. She appeared on the cover of Elle when she was only 15. She was the first black model to appear on the covers of many magazines, including Vogue Paris. Naomi has often talked about the racism and discrimination that she has faced over the years in the fashion world. She talks about how it still exists to this day.
She has been on the cover of over 100 magazines. Her career has stretched beyond just the catwalk, print ads, commercials, etc. Naomi has appeared in quite a few music videos, including George Michael's Freedom and Madonna's Erotica. She has also appeared in movies, documentaries & television shows. She has even had a music career as well.
Naomi is still out there, working it to this day. She is still very beautiful and stunning after twenty years in the biz. Naomi's somebody who definitely tells it like it is. She's not afraid to be the woman she is, whether society likes it or not. Naomi does often get herself into quite a bit of trouble. You definitely don't want to get her mad because she might throw her phone at you.
She has helped open many doors for other black models. She deserves a lot of credit for that. Plus Naomi does do a lot of work for charity that often doesn't get recognized. She is quite a striking beauty. There's no denying that at all. Whether you like her or not, I know there are many people who can't stand her, I do hope you will give her the proper credit.
