Happy Friday! Ready to face your day with a runny nose and puffy eyes? Because we're warning you now, watching the following video will lead to uncontrollable emotions and probably lots of tears. You can tell people it's allergies or you can scream out: "I just have a lot of feelings!" And honestly, there is nothing wrong with being so moved by a stranger's story that you sob along with them.
Jo Milne, a 40-year-old woman from from Gateshead, U.K., was born with a rare genetic disorder that can lead to hearing loss and visual impairment called Usher syndrome. Jo has been deaf since birth, and she just got cochlear implants this past February, but had to wait a month before they were switched on.
Watch video below:
Her friend filmed the emotional moment when Milne was able to hear for the first time. She is so overcome with the experience that she is openly crying while her doctor says the days of the week to her.
"The switch-on was the most emotional and overwhelming experience of my life and I'm still in shock now," Milne told The Journal. "The first day everybody sounded robotic and I have to learn to recognize what these sounds are as I build a sound library in my brain."
The friend that filmed her implants being turned on also created a "Introduction to Music" playlist for Jo, which included songs from Prince, Bruce Springsteen and Nirvana. The first song Jo ever heard was (appropriately) John Lennon's "Imagine."
