Support and help

I am saddened by this, on the 28th of February, Daghdha in Limerick was told there would a 100% budget cut. Meaning Dadhdha is no more.

For those who aren't from Limerick, I'll explain Daghdha are a dance company in Limerick who specialize in contemporary dance and performance art. They operate from St John's church and have close links with Limerick School of Art and Design.

I have my own memories of them, I studied a BA in fine art at LSAD and was involved with Daghdha's Mamushka nights. A performance art night held in the church. It was my first time performing and my god I was nervous. But the fantastic people at Daghdha made me feel very welcome and very supported. I still love that performance. Not only that, but some of the staff came to LSAD to mentor me in performance art while I was in fourth year. It was because of them (and my tutors, Nigel Rolfe and Oscar McLennon) that I was able to graduate with a great degree, become a good performance artist and produce fantastic pieces.

I am sickened that other students in LSAD wont have that chance. I was aware about a year ago that funding for Mamushka was cut. Meaning that it was removed from the program. But this is disgusting.

There is a petition going online : http://www.petitiononline.com/daghdha/petition.html which you can sign to hopefully reverse the cuts.
So if you have five minutes, please sign!
