Well this is a new one..........
Chanel have been ordered to pay their former suppliers after they were accused of counterfeiting. No seriously, Chanel were accused not the other way around like it normally is....
The company have been ordered to pay €200,000 to their former suppliers. World Tricot sued Chanel over wrongful termination and counterfeiting in 2009.
“This is the first time that we have faced this type of situation, although we work with close to 400 suppliers,” Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion, said in a statement to both WWD and Vogue UK. “This very specific case is in no way reflection of the quality of our relations with our suppliers.”
This is an odd one because the courts reversed their original decision to force Chanel to pay for public disparagement but are now saying that they are being forced to pay for counterfeiting. The full arguement behind this is not known but Chanel may appeal the decision.
