400+ INCREDIBLE BUCKET LIST IDEAS TO TRY AND THINGS TO DO IN YOUR LIFETIME

400+ Incredible Bucket List Ideas To Try and Things To Do In your Lifetime

Ah, life. Life is incredible, right?

Well, it is when we’re doing incredible things.

The problem for many of us is that we wait. We wait to dive out of that plane. We wait to travel the world. We wait to walk up to a hot person in a bar and ask them out.

We wait for tomorrow.

“I’ll do it tomorrow. Today I’m busy. Besides, I’ve got all the time in the world!”

Time passes and we’re still waiting. All those incredible things we could be doing? They’ve still not been done.

For a lot of us, life is something that seems to pass us by. We spend most of our time at work, or otherwise caught up in mundane activities. Why is this? Why are we not achieving more, doing more? Why aren’t we doing the things that actually make us feel alive?

Why aren’t we creating memories by doing memorable things?

For many of us, there are 3 reasons:

1) We always believe we have enough time

2) We don’t know what it is we want to do

3) We haven’t got a strong enough reason Why

This is where a bucket list comes in. A bucket list is a list of incredible things – big and small – that you want to do before you die.

And the thing is – you will die. No one knows when but the clock is always ticking. Will you really have time to do something amazing next week that you could have done today? Who knows!

Writing a bucket list can bring us such joy. It reminds us of all the amazing things that we can – and should – do. Writing things down and then ticking them off is exciting. A list is often filled with ideas that are equally exciting and scary and which, if we go ahead and do them, will make us feel alive.

But what should go on your bucket list? What should you do in your lifetime? In this article, Beauty and Tips have got 400+ ideas. Let’s take a look!

Go see a Bull Fight in Spain

See Pompeii in Italy

Pompeii truly is an amazing spectacle. It’s rooted in history – a dark, horrific moment in history when a raging, blisteringly hot volcano spewed forth its contents and hurled it at the vulnerable citizens of Pompeii. It’s quite the tragic site but somehow it’s also morbidly unmissable. Go see it.

If you never got to spend a night in a tree house as a kid, now is your chance to catch up on one of the greatest things you’ve ever missed out on.

Tree houses are EPIC. Pack some supplies, grab your partner or some friends and go chill!

Warning – those woods, they may be haunted.

Go Pick Lavenders

Admittedly, the idea of spending the day picking cotton sounds horrific.

Just think of the smell!

(unless you can’t stand the smell of lavender, in which case definitely don’t do this)

Leave your mark on the world!

And, no, you can’t just write “I was here.”

We were just going to suggest that you stay in an igloo. But isn’t it more fun when you’ve built the igloo yourself?

A bucket list shouldn’t entirely centre on all the weird, wonderful and fun stuff you can do. It should also contain some charitable pursuits, such as giving blood.

Just imagine how awesome you’ll feel about yourself afterwards.

Throw a Coin in a Roman Fountain

And make a wish. Apparently they come true. Apparently.

Celebrate Christmas On the Beach

It will certainly be different.

Can we come round for dinner?

Visit a Chocolate Factory

In fact, they make you want to take people hostage so that you can eat everything!

“Give me a bar of chocolate or the janitor gets it!”

Maybe you’ve watched a lot of TEDTalks from your room on your laptop. But what about going to see the real deal in person?

Write a Sitcom

Seriously, this will be one of the most fun ways you will EVER spend your time. Create some characters, create a situation and let the laughs roll out.

Perform Stand-up Comedy

Don’t feel as though you’ve got a sitcom in you but always felt as though you could make people laugh? Try stand up comedy instead.

Sure, this will be a nerve wracking experience. But isn’t that what a bucket list is all about – doing the things that both scare us but which also make us laugh?

Spend the Night in a Haunted House

Speaking of doing things that scare us, nothing’s really as scary as spending the night in a haunted house, especially if you’re already afraid of the dark and thing that go bump in the night …

WHAT WAS THAT NOISE

Ahem.

Sorry.

Admit it – you’ve always wanted to splash the cash on something insanely expensive but caution has always got the better of you.

Visit the North Pole

And wrap up suitably warm, of course.

Spend a Day with a Homeless Person

When you’re feeling mighty charitable, go and spend a whole day with a homeless person. They’ll really appreciate it. They’ll appreciate it so much.

And wouldn’t it also be cool to be able to tell people that you can play tennis?

(and, yes, there was a murder on the Orient Express but it was pure fiction)

Riding a night train is one of the most romantic things you can do. Take your partner along, snuggle up together and enjoy the ride and view.

It will be even more amazing if it snows!

It’s more of a challenge but it shows what the world has come to when this is now on your bucket list.

Mentoring is such a rewarding experience, both for you and the kid.

Try Online Dating

IF you’re single and have never tried online dating before, now is your chance to give it a go. It could be the most fun you’ve had for a long time!

We hope there is someone special in your life who you can give it to, too!

Ride a Bullet Train in Japan

Those things are FAST and need to be experienced at least once in your lifetime.

Go to a Buddhist Temple

See the history, absorb the stillness. Feel blessed. It’s amazing.

Join a Band

If you’ve always been musically inclined and always wanted to join a band, you’ve now got the perfect excuse. If your partner asks why on earth you’ve decided to join a band at this juncture of your life, just say that your bucket list told you to.

Or that Beauty and Tips told you to. Go on, blame us!

Feed the Birds

Never done this before? Have them eating out of the palm of your hands and sing a song with them!

See Snow

Not everyone has seen snow. If you live in a part of the world where it literally never snows, we think you owe it to yourself to go and see some before you die.

Spend a Day at a Spa

We think it’s high time that you treated yourself to a day at a spa. Either go by yourself or take some friends, your partner or your mom with you.

How stunning are fireworks?

Go To a Hip Hop Gig

Literally, why not?

Go to a Rave

Get high on life and music at a summer rave and dance your a** off all night long!

Forget the hostels and the cheap rooms – stay in a posh 5 star, swanky hotel for a night.

Never written a love letter to the one you love? What are you waiting for?! This is your time to tell you partner how much they mean to you. Pen a romantic verse and don’t forget to seal it with a kiss!

Bake a Cake

We know, we know. Baking a cake is hard.

(and omg we literally want cake now)

Pretty soon, we’ll see you on TV playing Texas Hold ‘Em!

Host a Party

If your own soiree is something you’ve always wanted to do, get the drinks in, write out the invitations (or create an event on Facebook), pick the music and a theme and make it happen.

Adopt a Wild Animal

By adopting a wild animal – such as a tiger or a bear – you’re helping to save them from poachers. Go you.

Give a Public Speech

For many of us, the thought of doing a public speak terrifies us. But if you’ve always wanted to try it, and if there is something you’ve always wanted to speak about, add this one to your list and then tick it off once you’ve done it.

Go Abroad

If you’ve never left your home country, this one HAS to be on your list. And you have to tick it off as soon as possible. Like, right now. Go, shoo! Go to Vienna, Paris or Rio. Go anywhere!

Martial arts are pretty darn cool to be honest.

Go to a Fancy Dress Party

Pick a really cool, funny – or even sexy outfit – and go to your first fancy dress party. They’re a load of fun, we promise!

Go to a Theme Park

But make sure to go in the summertime on a really sunny day. Otherwise you might think theme parks are a bit rubbish and blame us.

Still not been to a wedding? The next time someone invites you, totally go for it. Weddings are special, beautiful and even fun occasions.

See a Rainbow

This one won’t be easy – but do all that you can to witness a natural miracle.

Fly on a Plane

Planes are the safest and arguably the most fun way to travel. If you’ve never experienced a plane before, we think now is the time to do it. Pick a destination and fly away.

Give up a Vice

Be it smoking, drinking or whatever else your vice is, put this on your bucket list and see if you can quit!

See a Play

Some people watch plays all the time.

Others have literally never seen one their whole life.

If you’re the latter but you’ve always wanted to see one, pick one that looks like something you’d enjoy and go see it.

Take Acting Lessons

No one is ever too old to learn how to act.

And if you become real famous and head to Hollywood, don’t forget to give us credit!

Go Explore a Cave

Caves are fascinating – and they can be a bit scary.

Hook up with a cave guide and go explore one.

(what was that noise, though?!)

Save Money

Ha! Hands up if you’re very bad at saving money? If you are – and if you’ve always wanted to put some cash aside for a rainy day – add this one to your bucket list and see if you can actually do it.

Run Through a Field

Because it’s just an amazingly cool experience.

Get a Pen Pal

The art of writing to a pen pal seems to be dying in the digital age where we are all connected. However, there still exist websites that can pair you up with pen pals.

So go and make a new friend from the other side of the world!

Go to a Flea Market

Flea markets are really cool, and who knows what you could pick up and take home!?

Get Lost Just for the Fun of it

If the idea of getting lost has always kinda scared you, it’s worth remembering that a bucket list is mean to be made up of things that scare you.

So why not loosen up for once and get lost in a city just for kicks? Don’t worry, you’re never really lost in a city – there’ll be plenty of people around to help you out!

Try a Food you Never Thought you’d Try

Raw fish?

Swordfish?

Blow fish?

Blue cheese?

Whatever that one food is that you never thought you’d try … go ahead and try it!

Get a Piercing

Hey, you only live once. Are you really going to spend your whole life without a piercing? Really?

Change your Hair Colour

Mix things up a bit!

Might we suggest blue?

Play Truth or Dare

Careful with this one – some serious truths will be coming out tonight!

Watch a Horror Movie

If you’ve always been too scared to watch a scary movie, now is the time to get the snacks in, close the curtains, turn the lights off … and hide behind the sofa!

Might we recommend The Exorcist?

Get Fit

Ah, the stalwart of anyone’s bucket list. Many of us want to get fit, but how many of us are prepared to do whatever it takes to actually get fit?

Add this to your bucket list and then make a concrete plan as to how you can get in shape.

Make your own Hot Chocolate

Because homemade hot chocolate in the winter time is amazing.

Careful, though – you might get addicted.

(and can we have some)

Write a Poem

“But I can’t write,” you might lament. It doesn’t matter – go write a poem. Leave your own literary legacy to the world!

Turn up Late

If you’re that person who has literally never turned up late for work once in your life, screw any idea you had about an “unblemished” record and experience how good it feels to be late.

(unless being late means you’ll get fired then omg don’t do it)

Have a Whole Day In Bed

Right?!

Go onnnnnnn – you know you’ve always wanted to do this!

There is one snag, of course: you’ll need to get out of bed to cook!

Takeaway food, it is.

Dance in Public

This should be on everyone’s bucket list. If everyone danced in public, the world would be a much better place.

Fall In Love

N’aww, if you’ve never experienced what love is like, make it your mission to find the love of your life.

Invent Something

Let’s face it, we’ve all claimed at some point or another that we could probably invent something.

But why have we never actually gone ahead and invented it? Probably because we needed to add this to our bucket list first.

Serenade a Stranger

The thing with this one is that you’d better be pretty good at serenading, otherwise it’s going to come across as creepy more than anything else. Which would kinda suck!

Meet your Hero

Who is your hero? Who has had the biggest impact on you? Who inspired you to chase your own dreams?

Whoever it was, make it your mission to meet them.

This could actually turn out to be one of your biggest accomplishments on this list.

Publish a Novel

Writing a novel won’t be easy, and getting it published will be even harder. But who said anything on this list was going to be simple?

Produce Some Street Art

Go ahead and leave your own distinct mark on a city.

Learn to Ski

Skiing is pretty amazing if you can master it, and you’ll have a great time out there on them slopes.

Create your own Cocktail

Give it an exotic name and let your friends try it.

Run a Race in a Different Country

If you’re not the fittest person in the world, training for this will be tough but it will be well worth it.

Clear your Debts

This is a really practical idea that should be on most peoples’ bucket list. The relief you’ll feel when you’ve cleared your debts will be nothing short of immense.

Hold a Tarantula

Got a fear of spiders? Who hasn’t?!

But let’s face it – we’ve all wanted to see what it would be like to hold a tarantula.

Careful that you don’t drop it!

Test Drive a Ferrari

No, you don’t need to buy it. But how fun would it be to take a Ferrari (of all things!) for a lil spin around the block?

And when you’re done, you can say to the dealer, “nah mate. Not for me.”

INCREDIBLE.

Hug a Tree

And see what it feels like for so-called “tree huggers.”

Hey, trees have feelings, too!

Do a Striptease

In front of your boyfriend, of course. Not in an actual strip club.

Go Bungee Jumping

We know – this one sounds REAL scary.

But that’s kinda the point, right?

Plus, it will make you feel so alive.

Go Visit a Lighthouse

And see what really goes on in one of those things!

Walk to the Top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Are you gonna be the one who scares everyone else by screaming “IT’S GONNA FALL OVER!” ?

Bet you are.

Sleep Beneath the Stars

Don’t just stargaze at night – actually for real sleep underneath the stars and let the night sky’s warm embrace sing you a sweet lullaby.

Change a Baby’s Diaper

A bit gross. But it has to happen.

Drink Champagne

And feel like a celebrity for a few hours.

Go to a Movie Premiere

Blag your way in!

Have a Food Fight

If you never did this when you were a teenager, you were seriously missing out. It’s high time that you grabbed some food – fish is good – and started an absolute RIOT in the canteen.

Just remember to duck when people start throwing chicken legs. Those things hit hard.

Start a Snowball Fight

Forget making snow angels – this time around you’re gonna start a snowball fight!

Make a snowball and then launch it at your victim.

Enact a Fantasy

With your partner.

Do it.

Take an Ice Bath

Athletes swear by ice baths. Apparently it’s something to do with repairing the muscles.

Why don’t you take one and let us know how it goes, yeah?

Watch a Total Eclipse

We get it. Each time a total eclipse comes around, you could watch it, but you’re usually too busy. Maybe you’ve gotta have a shower or eat or something.

Not this time. Add this one to your bucket list and make it your mission to witness a total eclipse. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.

Go Out Dancing

If you’ve literally never been out dancing before, girl, you are missing out.

Put on your dancing shoes, grab your best friend and head out!

And don’t forget the obligatory photos.

Visit your Ancestors Birthplace

If you’ve always been a tad curious to see where your ancestors grew up, add this to your bucket list and then find a way of getting there. It could be quite the adventure!

Be Financially Stable

Isn’t this the dream for many of us?

The problem is that most of us make this a dream – and not a goal.

By adding this to your bucket list and making it a goal, you can then put in place a series of smaller goals that will help you become financially stable.

If anything on your list is worth ticking off, it’s this.

Be Financially Independent

Kinda like the one above – but even better!

How so?

When you’re financially independent, you’re no longer relying on others – and this includes a job – for your money. Instead, you’re in control. And it will feel mighty good.

Get Blind Drunk

It’s not clever, it’s not smart – but it IS a heck of a lot of fun!

Take a Midnight Stroll on the Beach

There is something hauntingly beautiful about a beach at midnight. Whether it’s the stillness, the lack of people, the sound of the tired waves gently brushing up against the shore, or the moonlight that beams down on you to break up the darkness.

Take a walk on a beach at midnight, absorb nature at its calmest and use it as a chance to pause and reflect on your life.

Visit Great Britain

Britain isn’t just about London and the Queen. There is also the rest of England, Wales and Scotland.

Visit Ireland while you’re there, too, and soak up the eccentricities that the British people have become famous for.

Go Sky Diving

Go on – you know you want to, really!

Go to a Restaurant By yourself

A table for one? Do it!

So many worried about what other people will think of them that they wait until others are available before going out for a meal. But there’s a lot that can be said for dining out by yourself – try it and see if you don’t get chatting to a stranger anyway!

Start Lifting Weights

“Do you even lift, bro (girl)?”

Well, you do now!

Build up your strength and get BIG.

Milk a Cow

Because, like, why not?

Paint a Nude

Go to an art class and paint a nude.

This is definitely one to tell your friends about!

Even better, pose nude for a painting yourself!

Go Scuba Diving

And see what all the fuss is about. Perhaps you’ll have a WHALE of a time!

Sorry.

Give up Junk Food

If you’ve always wanted to quit junk food but just never had the motivation or willpower, add this to your bucket list and make it your mission this year to quit for good.

Do Something you Know you’ll Regret

The paradox is that, once you’ve done it, you probably won’t regret it at all.

Too many of us play it safe in life and don’t take enough risks. Do something you’d ordinarily regret and see if you didn’t make the best decision ever.

Perform on Stage

It’s nerve wracking, it’s scary – but it’s also hella exciting.

Just like pretty much everything else on this list.

Stay happy!
